Optically Transparent Antenna for Smart Glasses

The optically transparent antenna technology has been gaining attention in consumer electronic industry owing to its potential release the volume constraints compact mobile devices. Earlier studies have heavily focused on integration display for smartphone applications, example, improve spatial coverage of 5G mm-wave at forehead side. To our knowledge, application smart glasses and augmented reality glasses, especially considering from coexistence with optical features lens stack-up, remained unexplored. Thus, first time, we suggest a feasible existence solution between antennas RF lossy layers reduce negative impacts performances. A slot loop formed by metal-mesh based film metallic glass frame investigated. Experimental results such an human head phantom shows total efficiency better than −4.5 dB 2.4 GHz band. Even though it is demonstrated through same principle can be applied any other sub-6 i.e., LTE, WiFi, GNSS, etc.
